What is a bridge?
Bridges are used to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth that have been lost. Bridges rely on existing tooth structures on either side of the missing teeth, which are prepared with a crown and fused to prosthetic teeth to ‘bridge’ the gap. Bridges are permanent solutions to dental problems, such as missing teeth, weakened tooth structure or large fillings.
How long will it last?
Crowns/bridges come with a 5 year manufacturer's warranty against fracture, however this is contingent on attending six monthly preventive care appointments. These will ensure that the gum and bone support around the teeth is optimal and early changes are detected and attended to.
Failure to floss or brush correctly around a crowned tooth, or attend the six monthly preventive dental care appointments can be detrimental to the longevity of a crown.
