About me

“For me, it’s so important for my work to be rewarding. I’m passionate about making every patient dental experience a positive one, whether it is a routine check-up or a root canal treatment. With my experience with IV sedation and behavioural psychology, it is possible to do this for even the most anxious patients.”

Fionnuala graduated from Cork Dental School in Ireland with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2010. She then worked in the Newcastle Dental Hospital in England for two years and during that time gained a further qualification with the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Glasgow. A move to Australia led Fionnuala to a family dental practice in Taree, NSW and then to the Torres Strait Islands as a Dental Officer. She has spent the last few years working as a Speciality Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the UK. This job included work in an Oral Surgery department and A&E treating major facial trauma. Now, her area of expertise is difficult extractions, including wisdom teeth, and treating nervous patients with IV and oral sedation.

Fionnuala loves being able to teach her patients more about their dental health and finds it so much easier with the great technology we have here.

Outside of work, Fionnuala is a keen triathlete and runner, so no doubt you will see her taking part in one of the many Around the Bays marathons that Wellington has to offer. She is also a classically trained violinist and has just started taking Irish dancing lessons!
